How To Hear God's Voice

As a christian, hearing God's voice is the only thing that will keep us prosperous and being in the will of God in this tribulant times.

Your a spirit who possesses a soul and lives in a spiritual body. Proverbs 20:27 says that,

²⁷"The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.^(A)"

This means that God uses your spirit to guide you. If you belong to God you should be able to hear his voice. In order to hear God's voice you must believe that he wants to speak to you and that you can hear him. One thing I do everyday after I wake up in the morning is that I confess John 10:27 that says, "My sheep hear my voice; I know them and they follow me." This really helps me to expect to hear God's voice everyday. God also spoke to people in the Old Testament in specific details. If he spoke to this people he can also speak to you because God is not a respecter of person's.

Examples of People In The Old Testament Whom God talk to.

Example 1. ( Genesis 6:12-22 )

God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. ¹³ So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. ¹⁴ So make yourself an ark of cypress ^[a] wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. ^15[b]16 Make a roof for it and finish ^[c] the ark to within 18 inches ^[d] of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. ¹⁷ I am going to bring flood waters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. ¹⁸ But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you. ¹⁹ You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. ²⁰ Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. ²¹ You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.

In the above scripture we see God speaking to Noah in specific details on how to build the ark. Noah was able to hold on what he heard from God because he knew with no doubts in his mind that God talked to him. Although Noah was mocked by many people of those times, he still did not give up doing what God commanded him to do. This shows us that knowing you heard from God keeps you strong when circumstances challenge your faith.

Example 2. (Genesis 12:1,2).

¹ The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you. " I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great and you be a blessing.

In Genesis 12:1,2 we see Abraham also receiving instructions from God to leave his country and family. As you continue reading we also saw in (Genesis 22:1-16) Abraham receiving instructions to kill his son as a sacrifice but then God directed him not to sacrifice Isaac but to sacrifice the lamb instead. This reveals to us that if you are to be led into the perfect will of God for your life you must know how to hear from God.

Practicing God's Presence.

In order to increase your hearing of God's voice you should spend time talking to God like you would a friend. spend time,pray in spirit to sharpen your spiritual hearing, fellowship with God when your alone and meditate on God's word because God will always echo his word.

Obedience In Hearing God's Voice.

After you hear God's voice, you should always obey God in little things he told you to do so that he can trust you in bigger things. The more you obey God's voice the more you become proficient in hearing from God. After hearing God's voice many people often ask this three questions, " Was that me?", "Was that God?", or "Was that the devil?". One thing you should know, the devil will never tell you to do something to increase the Kingdom of God. When God talks to you he'll sometimes ask you to do things that are out of your comfort zone or don't even make sense to your natural mind. Whatever God talks to you it will require faith and trust in Him. You must be faithful in order to move to the next level. God will continue to speak to you when you are obedient.

Ways To Improve Your Hearing

As you start learning to hear God's voice there are ways that you should use to improve your hearing. Two of this ways are: maintaning a spirit of expectancy and praying in spirit.

Expectancy is the breeding ground for miracles. No breakthrough can happen in a person's life if he or she dosen't expect anything to happen. In this case you should always expect to hear God's voice. While doing that you should pay full attention in hearing his voice. Do not be distracted by anything, for distraction is the intrusion of the mind that causes confusion.God is willing to talk to you and show you many things that are going to happen but you have to believe that he does. Do not let fear hold you back neither do not ever doubt that you won't hear his voice because fear is the system of the world that is grounded on selfishness and the Kingdom of God does not operate in selfishness but in love. When you fear you palarize God and you block him of working in your life but if you walk in faith you palarize the devil and he will not have any access in your life.

Praying in spirit will improve you hearing ability in many ways. As you pray in spirit ( tongues ) you spirit prays through you, you release your most holy faith and you build yourself in the love of God as it is written in Jude 1: 20,21 saying,

"But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life."

As we all know that every saved Christian can speak in tongues but not all can interpret them. It is much better to speak and also interpret tongues for this you not only edify yourself but also the people around you for they will now understand what your saying to them. The gift of interpreting tongues is not given to us freely but instead it is given by the leading of the Holy Spirit. You should ask God for this gift for it is much better than just speaking in tongues because you can understand what you are praying for.

The Voice Of God

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

Many Christian people have misinpreted this scripture. Almost all sermons of faith has interpreted this scripture to be like, faith comes by hearing and hearing the scriptures or the sermon which was preached .Instead of being, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing the voice of God". Listening to a sermon by itself its not enough to produce faith, we need to hear the voice of God which is behind that sermon.

This problem has been the result of some Christians not getting results from God. For example you can take two Christians who heard the same sermon but one did get results and the other did not get results. Why? well this is because the person who heard the sermon heard God's voice instructing him or her to do something that will cause him or her to get results but the other person who heard the sermon but did not get results. Why? well because he did not spend any time seeking to hear God's voice.

Example From Scripture.

Acts 22:6-10 (King James Version)

⁶And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.⁷And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?⁸And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth,whom thou persecutest.⁹And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. \

As we see from this example Saul, who was later came to be known as Paul, saw a light from heaven and from that light he heard the voice of God giving him instructions on what he should. In the other hand, all of his other companions saw the light but they did not hear the voice from that light. Now to make this example briefly, the light is the word of God, you all people will read this scripture or listen to any sermon and other people shall hear from God personally and briefly about any issue that God wants them to dealt with so that they may see some results. When people meditate on the word of God they meditate so that they can hear the voice of God as it is written in Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good ^[a]success. Joshua did not say meditation on the word of God will get you results but he said it will help you deal wisely meaning you will hear the voice of God that will guide you to have success.

Now we can conclude that The Word of God (or scriptures) is just information that produces hope. Reading the bible or hearing any sermon it's not the end of what you need to do to get some results. But it's the starting point that is necessary to get some results. Now if you hear a sermon or read the bible, you got yourself hope or sometimes saved people call it I'm believing for something.But that something that your believing for or hoping for, cannot be seen or felt unless you have the substance which is in that hope. And that substance is the voice of God. As Hebrews 11:1 says that, " Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Now we know that faith comes from hearing the voice of God or a word from God.

When you need a miracle or a breakthrough the first thing you need to do is to hear the voice of God. And this is not easy for a kind of Christian who just memorizes bible verses but does not spend any time seeking God in order to hear his voice this type of Christian cannot or will not hear the voice of God. So what you need to do is spend more time with God,praying, meditating on the word of God anything that you do to seek God until you hear the voice. After you hear that voice giving you instructions on what you should do, write it down!!! and do what it says because that will determine whether you will receive the miracle or not.

SUMMARY.

• Faith comes from hearing the voice of God.
• You cannot get any results unless you hear a word from God.
• Scriptures gives hope that is the starting point necessary to get results but not the end of it.
• Seeking and spending more time with God will make you to hear God's voice.

• Obedience in hearing God's voice will determine your breakthrough.
  

What to do In Your Behalf.

1. Pick yourself a scripture that covers that you need from God.
2. Meditate on that scripture,pray, spend more time with God and seek God in any way you know.
3. Obey God's instructions that he told you to obey.
